heya! new polypulse owner(almost 24 hours to be precise…), and i’ve managed to get the unit to a crawl, to the point of it not accepting my inputs. I’m still learning so I’m expecting before I get good at CPU management, this will happen often. Is there a key combo to stop all? I’ve gotten to a point where I can’t shut down the unit, and don’t want to just pull the power cord out…
Also…Is there a way to mute, not audio wise, but mute engines/tracks easily? If I’m not using track 1 i’d love to be able to “mute” it effectively turning it off processing wise so I can use the rest of the unit without it bogging down things.
In this case, you can also hold down the track buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 at the same time. That will cause a firmware restart (without saving or asking) so be sure to save your project once in a while.
You can enable backup project in [settings] and set it to save every few minutes.
What I usually do is switch to an empty pattern on tracks I don’t want to play / consume CPU. Then it won’t trigger notes and the audio effects will also ‘go to sleep’.
One tip I can give you if you’re playing chords: on some sound engines you can enable two notes per voice. Then you can and set polyphony to 2 while still being able to trigger 4 note chords.
indeed, these are MIDI cc messages that include MIDI ch
they are
All Sound Off. When All Sound Off is received all
oscillators will turn off, and their volume
envelopes are set to zero as soon as possible. c =
120, v = 0: All Sound Off
Reset All Controllers. When Reset All Controllers is
received, all controller values are reset to their
default values.
c = 121, v = x: Value must only be zero unless
otherwise allowed in a specifc Recommended
Practice.
Local Control. When Local Control is Off, all
devices on a given channel will respond only to
data received over MIDI. Played data, etc. will be
ignored. Local Control On restores the functions of
the normal controllers.
c = 122, v = 0: Local Control Off
c = 122, v = 127: Local Control On
All Notes Off. When an All Notes Off is received, all
oscillators will turn off.
c = 123, v = 0: All Notes Off (See text for
description of actual mode commands.)
c = 124, v = 0: Omni Mode Off
c = 125, v = 0: Omni Mode On
c = 126, v = M: Mono Mode On (Poly Off) where M
is the number of channels (Omni Off) or 0 (Omni
On)
c = 127, v = 0: Poly Mode On (Mono Off) (Note:
These four messages also cause All Notes Off)
i have several devices that can send or receive these messages
(all ROLAND synths will answer/respect to these, as you can image with a manufacturer who was at the birth of MIDI)
all my AKAI MPCs (MPC4000, MPC X) & EMU Command Stations send and receive these
novation (supernova,) and waldorf (XT) respect these
you can easily know which devices feature which message(s) by looking at their MIDI implementation chart (where is yours BTW?)
