Auto reset clock impossible to start polypulse // different output for quad engine ?)

Hi Ward

2 questions :

1
I have a “bug” when auto reset clock is true, impossible to start the polypulse (it does the first beat and then stop, whatever the pression I give to the knob)
it works fine once every 20 times…

2
would that be possible in quad engine to have a separate output mono on each track ? (before fx) ?

Thank you for your answer (and updates :))

That is weird. Can you tell me how the clock is configured? Are you using an external clock or is clock source set to internal? What happens with the BPM?

Quad engine can already be routed to individual outputs simply by not adding any panning FX. Then the quad engine goes to 1, 3, 5, 7 (and if using unison = 2 it goes to 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8)

I do realize now that sometimes it would be nice to manually select which part goes to what output. I’ll write it down on my todo list!

Hi Ward

I went forward about my bug. It works ok if cpu usage is below 80%.
I took off some FX and it s beheaving ok below 80%

I m used to take off the Stereo FX on most tracks to gain CPU power.
I d like to use more FX on my projects, but it’s so quickly out of CPU.
I m using track 5 for FX (delay) but if I add Reverb (top left nothing, top right only delay, bottom left only reverb, bottom right delay + verb); i m in 80 to 95% cpu use and I get some clics.
If you have an idea how I can manage it differently.

That would be amazing to decide where to root each separate voice of quad engine. I m happy to know about quad engine rooting.

Thank you

An other idea : would it be possible to have “low latency effects” beside regular effect. 8 bit reverb, low cpu usage with less quality. I have no idea if that is possible, it’s only an idea

If you want a vidéo of my “frozen” auto start I can do it.
Same with FX taking all CPU power

For next update I am adding a CPU monitor menu so you see how much CPU % is used per sound engine and audio effect. This should help in figuring out what can be done to make projects run at lower CPU usage.

Before adding new synthesis/FX I want to try and reduce the CPU usage of the current sound engines and FX. I do have some things that I can do that could reduce the CPU usage, but I cannot promise anything before I implement it and measure how much improvement is actually gained.

Hi Ward

Just a huge thank you for your answer and future firmware updates
I still feel so excited about this adventure with polypulse
Whatever implementation to be developped and time it’s gonna take
I Just love it !

Hi Ward

I just realize that your output section is focused mainly on spatialisation. It does a very unique feature, without doing the simple one : using separate outputs for multitrack REC and MIX

Hi Ward,
Do you think possible to add a way to manage the audio buffer size ?
BTW what is the actual Polypulse audio engine buffer size ?

I don’t think the buffer size will ever be user changeable because in a lot of places code is written with a fixed buffer size in mind. I believe it to be more worthwhile to rewrite/improve the current synthesis/FX algorithms to be more efficient than to make the buffer size changeable.

Ok, let’s hope you’ll find a way to better manage CPU consumption.

You can now do this with the new patch audio effect.

Use the input parameter to select the voice, and then the output to select to which output channel it will go. Then you can use the top left numpad button to connect/disconnect between the selected input and output channel.
