How about :
Let there be a number of, say, “flags”
In the trigger settings of a given modulator, you choose eg “flag 5”
In a cue step, you can enter a function like “activateFlag(5)”
you could even fire multiple modulators linked to the same flag at once this way, possibly on different tracks.
