Midi MPE per Instuments/Track

I was reading in the manual about HOW MPE to use the 5 Dimensions of this type of Midi.
I don’t understand why or whats the use of splitting the information into 5 Midi channels or Tracks, when I want to target the MPE information to the parameter to e.g. One Instrument ?

Hey,

MPE (MIDI polyphonic expression) is designed so that you can control parameters (such as pitchbend) individually for each note. To do that, it uses one MIDI channel per note.

In the PolyPulse, MPE is only used to send pitch bend messages for each notes. This means that you only need MPE if:

  • you are using microtuning / tunings that are not 12-TET.
  • you are using note slides in chords.

For all other things, you can just use normal MIDI with 1 instrument per midi channel.
