Parameter locks and pulse components

parameter locks
Enable note lists to contain not just notes but also parameter settings. Create a new item type, “P” for “parameter.” After adding a P to a note list, you then set /press any encoder or touch a spot on a touchpad, which becomes that P’s value. Every time that P pulses, the parameter temporarily gets set to the value associated with the P, or a touchpad touch gets simulated until the next pulse.

pulse components
Enable a new kind of note list item represented by “C” for “component” (inspired by Teenage Engineering’s step components). Every time the C pulses, it affects pulses happening at the same time in other pulse streams in interesting and creative ways. If another pulse does not align precisely with the C’s pulse time, it is not affected at all.

For example, all pulses that happen in other pulse streams at exactly the same time could:

  • get ratcheted according per the C’s setting
  • have their velocities set per the C’s setting
  • have their notes altered by arpeggiation of various types depending on the C’s setting
  • have their notes randomized in some way
  • have their notes pitch bent per the C’s setting
  • have their notes transposed in per the C’s setting
  • have their parameter locks canceled
  • have their notes pulse depending on trigger conditions specified in the C

Thanks for the suggestion. Stuff to think about!
