Post your music (made with the PolyPulse)

Let’s use this thread to post music that was (partially) made with the PolyPulse!

It would be nice if a short description is included of what we hear and how it is created.

To embed a YouTube video or SoundCloud track just paste the link on an empty line in your post and it should automatically turn in into an embedded video that can be played here.

Back in June 2023 I played four tracks in the EKKO in Utrecht:

This was the first time I prepared a edm/beats type set with the PolyPulse. Most sounds are made with the FM sound engine and the Quad engine with various sample lists. In most tracks there are only about 2-3 different note lists and 1-3 patterns per track.

For the transitions between tracks 2->3 and 3->4 I used a delay (or fade delay) and set the feedback to 100% so the echoes would continue while I loaded the next track.

First jam on Polypulse after about 4 hours learning the paradigm. A bit clumsy with some of the sounds and positions of notes etc. but I didn’t spend a whole lot of time sculpting. I wanted to show the creative flow for my bandmate. He’s gonna be jelly. I’m hoping to get more time this weekend to really figure this instrument out.

OH. 1 additive, 1 quad, 1 resonant and one subtractive. 1 to 2 patterns per track. using master FX delay and reverb on top.

Hi Ward

My first video with polypulse and harp
(some “ticks” at the end, CPU at 75%… I haven’t been able to figure out what it was)
Hope you will like it. Still a lot to do… more practice ahead  thank you for this amazing piece of gear.

Nice & inspiring tune !!
Well done for the video shooting :clap:t5::clap:t5::clap:t5:

Regarding the ticks at the end it looks to only happen with the bass track.
It doesn’t seem to related to CPU but i’m not sure maybe i’m wrong.

Hey I listened to this yesterday and it very cool!

If the CPU usage goes above 100% at any moment in time it will result in a block being dropped: ~1.3ms of silence which we hear as a click. The CPU meter on display shows the average CPU usage of last 250 ms. To give an indication of the ‘safe zone’ the CPU indicator flashes white above 80% to indicate danger.

It could be however that the clicks in the video you posted are caused by something else. It sounds like you are using the resonator for the bass? I tried to recreate the bass sound:
noise filt: 10hz
dampening: 50%+
pos/neg: 50%
short noise envelope.

I noticed that there are sometimes clicks at the beginning of a note if the ratchet is higher than 0% (just like in your video), because the ratchet adds sharp peaks to the noise amp envelope. I’ve reordered the DSP from [noise → filt → ampenv] to [noise → ampenv → filt] so that the clicks created by the ratchet envelope (which we only hear when the filter is low) are filtered away (because the filter is low). The clicks should be gone in next update.

Also, good to see you like the instrument so much you’ve made a tutorial about it! Thanks!

Hello

Thank you for your detailed explanations.
I wish that my tutorial will bring you more musician.

It’s very exciting to be in the “in growing” process of polypulse.

I will have a concert on may 16th in France for a harp festival.
I will be practising every day until  and feed the forum with questions and suggestions.

Have a good day !

My man, your stuff is amazing, highly melodic and pleasurable … Just very creative and great Harp skills mixed with very cool audio electrics …

How long have you been playing the Harp?

Hope you have a studio album planned … The world needs to hear this … it’s superb!

:two_hearts: Merci Beaucoup !

Hi, thank you for your message. I m very pleased to read it. I m playing Harp since 40 years and i m now focused on sound, lever Harp, producing the best sound, FX, and polypulse which is my favourite machine by far.

Next week i will focus on working with my own composition and polypulse. An album is on the way for late 2025.:))

Thanks

Ok look forward to your album.

If I may recommend /suggest to you an interesting way to expand your harp sound as you seam to voyage into the electric side 8)

Idea is voicing your harp with physical modeling layer via Audio to CV converter (basically translates the audio of your Harp into to euro rack)

So something like Mutable instruments Rings
and Audio to CV converter

Now Rings can/ will track your Harp pitch sound :bulb: …just run it through some of your pedals/a nice reverb and voilà instant electrik voicing to your Harp

Hi

I tried few month ago some audio to cv converter but it didn’t work well with my harp polyphony. Maybe I had the wrong maschine. I m a bit afraid of a deep dive into modular wich from a money point of view … isen’t family friendly ! Anyway. Thank s a lot for your interest in my musical exploration. Still a lot of ideas I haven’t explore with polypulse

Hi everyone

An other one here
