Questions about samples (SOLVED - User Error!)

I’m trying to load a sample (drumloop) for the first time.

First thing I notice is that when I scroll through a folder of samples, it shows that it is PREVIEWING the sample - but I can’t hear it… ?

  1. Does the sample preview play through the headphones output? If so, what do I need to do to actually hear the sample preview?

  2. You had mentioned on Instagram that you were working on a way to chop up a loop into slices. Can we do that with PP yet? (I didn’t see it covered in the manual.)

  3. I loaded a drumloop without previewing it, got it assigned to a sample list, assigned a pulse to play that sample, but can’t seem to get the sample to actually play or make any sound…

(The learning curve on PP is the steepest on any instrument I’ve ever used at this point…)

Sample preview is through outputs 1+2 (which are also connected to the headphone output).

Yes this is already possible. When inside a sample list press [edit] and there should be an option slice sample. Then you can select into how many slices.

This (and the samples not being audible in the file browser) seems to suggest maybe something went wrong with uploading the sample? How long does the file browser say the files are? Can you see in the sample list editor how long the sample is? Does the waveform look as expected?

Could you try to see if you can get it to work using the factory library samples in the samples folder?

If the samples seem to be 0:00 long it could be due to incorrectly shutting the PolyPulse down. If files are created/modified (such as by uploading) and then the machine is shutdown by just pulling the plug, sometimes the files ‘exist’ but are empty because the CPU did not have the time to write them to storage yet.

To avoid this shutdown the PolyPulse by pressing [edit]+[settings] and then shutdown PolyPulse, then the CPU will make sure all cached file changes are written to storage. This is the same reason as why you need to ‘safely eject’ USB drives from your computer before physically disconnecting them.

If this isn’t the case, can you send me the samples that don’t seem to work via email?

Well, the samples are not previewing through the headphones, so I’m not sure what’s going on then. I just tried to preview the factory samples, and they are not playing through the headphoines, either - even though the screen says it’s previewing the sample when I scroll through them. ??

OK, took the time to plug in the outputs 1+2 to check if the sample preview was coming out from them and YES IT IS!

…but still not coming through the headphones… Do I maybe need to adjust a setting to make the preview route to the headphone jacK?

OMG, I’m Sorry!
UGH - turns out I had the headphones plugged into the wrong jack - Output 8, instead of the headphone jack - #imanidiottoday - SORRY!

I feel quite similar, sometimes I hit several Buttons, or twist a pot, and often I get where I wanted
But ok its only the 3.day and it takes time to capture a very unkonventionell Tool! Which almost always is of an overwhelming soundquality and does sound F—kin goood !
