Something strange is happening when I trigger Quad Engine with samples for all pulses (I didn’t try with other types of mini Quad Engine for now).
When I play one note from my external MIDI keyboard only pulse 1 is triggered.
When I play one note from Polypulse internal sequencer all 4 pulses are triggered.
So my question is; is there a way to trigger all 4 pulses from external Midi keyboard with one played note like with the internal Polypulse sequencer ?
So to summerize at this point using the Polypulse,
I can’t use sample in “one shot” mode meaning from Start to End with no retriggering until sample is played entirely → which oblige me to use my DAW sequencer to do what I want.
So for that specific reason I’m sequencing with my DAW, and find out I can’t trigger all 4 for pulses with my external MIDI keyboard with one midi note; meaning I can’t layer my sounds using my external MIDI Keyboard.
At this point to be very honest; I can’t use the Polypulse as a main groove machine or even as a basic sampler.
To much unknows are killing the creative process.
For information, all my tracks are configured with 4 polyphony voices (at least).
This is normal behavior. 1 MIDI note means it triggers 1 voice.
Because you have enabled all four pulses? Or what do you mean here?
Currently not. On quad engine, if you trigger a note with the internal or MIDI keyboard it plays the pulse (and corresponding mini engine) that is selected with the X encoder.
The (temporary) solution for this is:
(and setting polyphony high enough)
Yes, of course they are all enabled and one MIDI note (in the note list) suffice to trigger all 4 pulses at the same time. Which is the effect I want…layering samples and trigger them at the same time.
But when I use my external MIDI keyboard (because it’s the only way to trigger my samples for it to play full length without being cut using my DAW sequencer) it triggers only the first pulse.
Why is that ?
Looks Note List “note distribution” behaviour is conditionned by internal MIDI and not by external MIDI ?
As I said; what I want is trigger the 4 pulses with samples behaving like into any other sampler (in one shot mode) to layer my sounds.
And I repeat any other sampler can do that “One Shot” sample playing.
I’ve a Smpltrek in my combo and it can do that and it’s the first choice (among others)
because it’s obviously the most common one.
In fact it’s the very basic behaviour for a sample player.
And just to remind you the matter here.
As I can’t use Polypulse sequencer beacause it cuts the longer sample in my sample list; I use my DAW sequencer just to trigger samples by MIDI note.
And Polypulse Quand Engine does not react the same way:
In one case i can trigger all 4 pulses but sample are not played entirely andin other I trigger sample by MIDI but it only trigger the first pulse.
So there is actually no solution !
I understand the problem that you outlined. I will look into a way to address this:

So my question is; is there a way to trigger all 4 pulses from external Midi keyboard with one played note like with the internal Polypulse sequencer ?
Regarding the one-shot sampling problem: if the (temporary) solution I have given you does not work the way you want/expect, then there is currently nothing I can do for you.
We’ve already spend a lot of time talking about this and I do not think any further discussion helps so I’m locking this post.
